Tim Walz's Republican Brother, Jeff, Has Some Stomach-Turning Stories About Him

The Republican brother of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is speaking out about his estranged relationship with his brother, but says he won’t be campaigning against him.

In an interview Tuesday with NewsNation, Jeff Walz said that while he is opposed to his brother’s political views, he doesn’t want to influence how his fellow citizens vote.

In a series of Facebook comments, Jeff Walz ― who has been estranged from the Democratic vice-presidential nominee since 2016 ― said that his brother is not the “type of character” who should be in power and claimed he is “100% opposed” to his brother’s “ideology,” according to the New York Post.

But Walz told NewsNation that he now doesn’t want to be in any political campaign, and said his posts were only intended to let friends know that he didn’t share his brother’s views.

“It wasn’t my intent, it wasn’t our intent as a family, to put something out there to influence the general public,” Walz told the network.

“I used Facebook, which wasn’t the right platform to do that,” he went on. But I will say, I don’t agree with his policies.”

Walz had implied in his Facebook posts that he had stories suggesting that his younger brother isn’t “the type of character you want making decisions about your future.” But in the segment Wednesday, he admitted to NewsNation that he didn’t have any political bombshells ― just some stomach-turning anecdotes.

“Nobody wanted to sit with him, because he had car sickness and would always throw up on us, that sort of thing,” Walz said. “There’s really nothing else hidden behind there. People are assuming something else. There’s other stories like that, but I think that probably gives you the gist of it.”

Walz declined to say who he’ll vote for.
