Stephen Colbert Is Wowed By Nancy Pelosi’s ‘Weapons-Grade Passive Aggression’

Stephen Colbert said on Thursday that President Joe Biden is rejecting calls to step aside amid questions over his age and mental fitness.

“Let me say this clear as I can: I’m staying in the race,” Biden said last week. “I’ll beat Donald Trump. I will beat him again in 2020.”

Colbert raised an eyebrow.

“OK,” he said. “You might have said that a little too clearly, sir.”

Colbert said that seemed like the final word on the matter ― until Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) gave Biden something less than a full-throated endorsement.

“It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run,” she said on Wednesday on MSNBC. “We’re all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short.”

Pelosi was asked if she wanted him to run.

“I want him to do whatever he decides to do,” the former House speaker said.

Colbert seemed impressed.

“That is some weapons-grade passive aggression,” he said, then offered his own example.
