Prosecutors in Hunter Biden Trial Are Expected to Rest Their Case

Prosecutors are expected to rest their case against Hunter Biden on Friday after days of testimony detailing intimate aspects of his all-consuming addiction to crack cocaine, as they seek to prove that he lied about his drug use on a federal firearms application in October 2018.

The government plans to call two additional witnesses, experts in law enforcement and drugs, most likely nudging the trial into a second week and paving the way for Mr. Biden’s lawyers to mount their defense in earnest. His lawyers have raised the possibility that they will summon other members of the Biden family, possibly Mr. Biden and his daughter Naomi.

The trial has served as a vivid reminder of a painful drama that has played out in the Biden family for years, with three former romantic partners called as witnesses to chronicle the depths of Hunter Biden’s addiction around the time he obtained the gun.
