K C Tyagi: ‘Those who refused to make Nitish INDIA convenor are now offering to make him PM’

JD(U) advisor and party’s national spokesperson K C Tyagi on Friday said that the same INDIA bloc that had “refused” to make party supremo and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar its national convenor, “has been now making offers to make Nitish PM”. Tyagi added they had rejected the offer outright and were strongly with the NDA.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Tyagi said: “Such is the game of politics that those who had refused to make Nitish Kumar INDIA bloc’s national convenor have been now making offers to make Nitish PM.”

Tyagi said it was because of “ill-treatment” by the Congress and other parties that Nitish was “forced to return” to the NDA this January. “There is no question of looking back, as was also said several times by Nitish Kumar during the election campaign. We are now a valued partner of the NDA and we will strengthen hands of Narendra Modi, who is all set to become Prime Minister for the third straight term.”

Tyagi pointed out that Nitish was instrumental behind the idea of INDIA bloc, and said he was “pushed aside” by various members of it. “With the NDA, our respectability is restored and Nitish Kumar has become a stakeholder in national politics. We are getting a lot of respect from ally BJP.”

Meanwhile, CM House sources in Patna hinted that Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha was among the front runners for a Union minister post. Other JD(U) leaders in contention for ministerial berths are Rajya Sabha MP and EBC leader Ramnath Thakur, Jhanjharpur MP Rampreet Mandal (EBC) and Valmiki Nagar MP (OBC Kushwaha).

Sources said the JD(U) could get two Cabinet and one minister of state berths.
