Jyotiraditya Scindia: ‘Cong is bankrupt on ideology, leadership… It neither respects nor retains human resource… It has nothing to offer to India’
Union minister and BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, 53, is again contesting from the Guna Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh. The Guna seat in the Gwalior-Chambal region has been held by three generations of his family over the last 37 years. The scion of the erstwhile Gwalior ruling family, Scindia has himself represented the seat four times, from 2002 t o2019, as a Congress leader. In the 2019 polls, however, Scindia suffered a shock defeat at the hands of the BJP’s K P Yadav by 1, 25,549 votes. He switched to the BJP in March 2020.
In the course of his ongoing campaign in Guna, Scindia speaks to The Indian Express about multiple issues including his return to the seat, the challenges ahead and the tensions in the MP BJP unit. Excerpts:
