A day after the BJP severed ties with it and replaced Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar with Nayab Singh Saini, the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) issued a whip to its MLAs directing them to remain “absent” from the trust voting session underway in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday when Saini will prove his majority in the House.
The day began with talk of a split in the BJP-Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) alliance in Haryana and the resignation of the Manohar Lal Khattar government. By late afternoon, the alliance was over, Khattar was out, and state BJP president Nayab Saini, the Kurukshetra MP, had been declared the new Chief Minister. According to party insiders, Khattar himself proposed Saini’s name at the BJP Legislature Party meeting.
