Wolf Blitzer's Weekend Ruined By Biden News... And The Memes Are Priceless

This weekend, journalist Wolf Blitzer was rudely reminded that the news cycle stops for no one.

The CNN anchor’s Sunday plans came to a screeching halt when President Joe Biden announced he was suspending his reelection campaign that afternoon.

Literally one hour before Biden’s big announcement, Blitzer tweeted a photo of himself blissfully enjoying a brunch cocktail named in his honor.

“Enjoying a Wolf Spritzer at El Presidente restaurant here in DC,” he wrote along with a smiling selfie posted just shy of 1:00 p.m. Eastern.

Not long after word Biden was dropping out emerged, Blitzer was spotted back at his CNN desk covering the political action.

People couldn’t help but point out the reporter’s bad luck, taking to X, formerly Twitter, to share side-by-side photos of Blitzer before and after lunch.

In images from CNN, the reporter seemed bewildered by the fact he was back at the office, prompting one X user to remind everyone, “Never check your work email on a day off.”

Others felt bad knowing Blitzer barely had time to sip his namesake cocktail.

HuffPost’s own Phillip Lewis summed things up pretty perfectly for his peers in media.

He posted the pair of photos with the caption, “What it’s like to work in news.”
