This Divisive Sequel Is The Top Movie On Netflix Right Now

“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” is currently the most popular movie on Netflix, according to the platform’s public ranking system.

The supernatural comedy is a sequel to 2021′s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and the fifth film in the “Ghostbusters” franchise. Set three years after the previous installment, the movie features a star-studded cast including Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd.

“Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” follows the veteran Ghostbusters as they team up with their successors to defeat a phantom villain that seeks to build an army of undead soldiers. The movie received mixed reviews from critics.

“Knox Goes Away”

The top movie on Max right now is the 2023 crime thriller “Knox Goes Away.”

Directed by Michael Keaton (who also stars in the titular role), the crime thriller follows a hit man who is diagnosed with a rapidly progressing form of dementia and decides to devote his last days of clarity to helping his estranged adult son. The cast also includes James Marsden, Marcia Gay Harden and Al Pacino.

“Sleeping Dogs”

The most popular movie on Hulu also revolves around a protagonist with declining mental faculties.

Based on E.O. Chirovici’s 2017 novel The Book of Mirrors, “Sleeping Dogs” stars Russell Crowe as a retired homicide detective with Alzheimer’s who tries to solve an old case and uncovers dark secrets in the process. The crime thriller was originally released on March 22 to mostly negative reviews from critics.
