TDP’s Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu set to get Cabinet berth, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani to be MoS

Two members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are set to be sworn in as Union ministers in the NDA government on Sunday evening.

Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu (36), a three-time MP from Srikakulam, will be sworn in as a Cabinet minister and first-time MP Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani (48) will be sworn in as a minister of state.

The swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s council of ministers is set to take place on Sunday.

Ram Mohan Naidu, one of the youngest MPs from the state, won for the third consecutive time from north Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam by defeating Tilak Perada of YSRCP by a margin of 3.2 lakh votes. He is the national general secretary of the TDP and its floor leader in the Lok Sabha.

His father, the late K Yerran Naidu, was a senior party leader and former MLA and MP, who was a Union minister in the United Front government between 1996 and 1998. His uncle K Atchennaidu is the MLA from Tekkali and the TDP state unit president.

After attending Delhi Public School, RK Puram, Ram Mohan Naidu did an Electrical Engineering degree from Purdue University in the US state of Indiana, and then an MBA from Long Island.

He was working in Singapore when on November 2, 2012, his father and senior TDP leader K Yerran Naidu died in a road accident. This brought Ram Mohan into the realm of politics, and at the age of 26, he contested the Srikakulam Lok Sabha seat in 2014 and won, becoming the second-youngest MP in the 16th Lok Sabha. Just like his father, Ram Mohan is considered one of the closest loyalists of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.

As an MP, he has been a member of the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Food Processing, as well as Committees for Railways and Home Affairs, Consultative
