Republican state lawmaker arrested in middle of night in Lansing
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A Republican state lawmaker from northern Michigan was arrested early Thursday in the capital, police said.
Rep. Neil Friske, whose family operates a popular fruit orchard near Charlevoix, was arrested around 3 a.m. in Lansing, police spokesperson Jordan Gulkis said.
The reason wasn’t immediately disclosed. Ingham County prosecutor John Dewane told The Detroit News that he was awaiting a formal report from police.
A phone message seeking comment from Friske’s office wasn’t immediately returned.
Friske, who is running for reelection, has a conservative voting record during his first term in the House. He represents Charlevoix and Emmet counties and portions of Cheboygan, Chippewa and Mackinac counties.
