Prince William Makes First Appearance Following Kate's Cancer News

Prince William made his return to royal duties on Thursday, about four weeks after his wife, Kate Middleton, revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer.

The Prince of Wales visited Surplus to Supper, a food distribution charity in southeast England, and met with volunteers there.

Prior to this visit, William’s last outing took place on March 19 in Sheffield, where he attended engagements focused on homelessness in the United Kingdom.

The royal was also recently spotted attending a soccer game with his eldest son, Prince George, while the 10-year-old and his siblings were on Easter break from school.

William reduced some of his royal duties following Kate’s abdominal surgery back in January, when her cancer was first discovered.

Initially, the Princess of Wales’ condition was thought to be noncancerous.

“This, of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” the princess said in a video message on March 22.

Kate did not reveal what type of cancer she was diagnosed with nor its severity.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said that the royal began undergoing preventative chemotherapy in late February, but added that the palace “will not be sharing any further private medical information.”

“The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do,” the spokesperson shared.

Kate’s bombshell diagnosis came at an already difficult time for the royal family.

Buckingham Palace announced on Feb. 5 that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer, which was discovered after the king underwent a procedure for an enlarged prostate.
