Nikki Haley Accepts Speaking Spot At RNC After Trump Assassination Attempt: Report

Nikki Haley is now set to speak at the Republican National Convention, despite not initially receiving an invitation to the event.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the former South Carolina governor has accepted an offer to address attendees at this week’s convention in Milwaukee.

As the Journal reported, the move is an attempt to coalesce Republicans into a united front following an apparent assassination attempt at a Donald Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday that left the former president wounded.

Previously, Chaney Denton, a spokesperson for Haley, told Politico that the Republican National Committee did not extend an invitation to the politician but added that Haley was “fine” with the reported snub.

“Trump deserves the convention he wants,” Denton said. “She’s made it clear she’s voting for him and wishes him the best.”

On Saturday evening, Haley addressed the Trump rally shooting in a post on X, formerly called Twitter, saying, “This should horrify every freedom loving American. Violence against presidential candidates must never be normalized.”

“We are lifting up Donald Trump, the entire Trump family, and all in attendance in prayer,” she added.

As Trump’s Republican presidential primary opponent, Haley railed against him as unstable and unfit to serve a second term in the Oval Office.

But two months after her campaign sputtered out in March, Haley, who served as a United Nations ambassador under Trump, decided to endorse him.

“I will be voting for Trump,” Haley declared during a May event at the Hudson Institute in Washington.
