Newsmaker | Another YSRCP MP quits, fires ‘Mahmud of Ghazni’ barb at Jagan Mohan Reddy in parting shot

Following several run-ins with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the party’s rebel MP from Narasapuram, Kanumuru Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, hasfinally quit the party.

In a letter addressed to Jagan on Saturday, the first-time MP referred to him as Mahmud of Ghazni, and wrote, “Your multiple and steady efforts like Mohammad Gajni to get me disqualified from my Parliamentary Membership haven’t yielded till date your desired result. However, every time you made an attempt, I also have equally made laudable, positive and even more powerful efforts working for my constituency and its holistic development as well its constituents at Narsapuram for the last 3.5 years despite your hostility and malicious brutal acts to physically eliminate me.”

Raju joins a list of YSRCP MPs who have recently quit the party. Since January, Lok Sabha MPs Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu (Narasaraopet), Vallabhaneni Balashowry (Machilipatnam) and Sanjeev Kumar (Kurnool) have quit the party and resigned from Parliament reportedly over being asked to change constituencies. Rajya Sabha MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy too has quit the party citing “personal reasons”. However, speculation is rife that he may cross over to the TDP and be nominated from the Nellore Lok Sabha seat.
