Lil Jon's Surprise Appearance Lights Up DNC Roll Call With An Update To An Iconic Song

Rapper Lil Jon made a surprise appearance on day two of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago when he interrupted roll call and started to perform.

When it came time for Georgia to cast their votes during the Ceremonial Roll Call of States, Lil Jon, who is from Atlanta, suddenly appeared in the crowd.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we are here tonight to officially nominate Kamala Harris for president,” Lil Jon shouted as his song “Turn Down For What” with DJ Snake played. He then started making his way down the arena’s stairs and encouraged the crowd to chant “We’re not going back!” before singing “VP Harris to the Walz,” a play on his song “Get Low,” where he sings “To window to the wall.”

Lil Jon stopped his performance so Georgia’s delegates could cast 123 votes for Harris as the Democratic nominee. As one of Georgia’s delegates expressed why they are voting for Harris, Lil Jon made his fingers into an A symbol for Atlanta.

It’s safe to assume Lil Jon’s twist of lyrics come in support of Kamala-Walz.

He’s previously had firsthand experience with former President Donald Trump. The rapper appeared on Season 11 of “The Celebrity Apprentice” in 2011 and on “All-Star Celebrity Apprentice” two years later ― both shows hosted by Trump, where Lil Jon claimed Trump once called him “Uncle Tom” on the “Celebrity Apprentice” set. According to the Daily Beast, Trump didn’t seem to understand it was a racial slur, and “kept using it even after it was explained to him.”

When asked a few years later on social media if he would support Trump for president, Lil Jon responded, “HOW ABOUT FUCKKKK NOOOOOO.”
