Justin Timberlake's Lawyer Speaks Out After Singer's DWI Arrest In Hamptons

Justin Timberlake’s attorney is speaking out while vowing to defend the “Mirrors” singer following his arrest for alleged drunk driving in New York’s Hamptons this week.

“I look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations,” attorney Edward Burke Jr. said in a statement shared with HuffPost. “He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time.”

The 43-year-old singer-songwriter was taken into custody early Tuesday after his car was pulled over in Sag Harbor, on the eastern end of Long Island, for allegedly running a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane.

Video obtained by Fox News allegedly shows his BMW SUV driving through the village moments before his arrest.

The arresting officer said Timberlake smelled of alcohol, had “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and failed a field sobriety test, according to court records obtained by CNN.

“He had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” the officer said.

Timberlake, who was arraigned on one count of driving while intoxicated, said he “had one martini,” according to the court documents.

The 10-time Grammy winner was in between shows for his Forget Tomorrow world tour, which started in April. He’s scheduled to perform in Chicago on Friday and will return to New York to perform at Madison Square Garden on June 25 and 26.

His next scheduled court date is July 26, which is when he is slated to perform in Krakow, Poland. Burke told The Associated Press that Timberlake won’t need to appear in person for the court date.

Burke, whose office declined further comment when reached by HuffPost on Thursday, has represented other celebrities who have had run-ins with law enforcement in the Long Island area.
