Joe Manchin Not Running For President
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) has decided not to launch a run for president after all, HuffPost has learned.
Manchin had been flirting with a third-party presidential bid as an independent after announcing that he was retiring from the Senate at the end of the year. He held several “listening sessions” with voters in battleground states in recent weeks, urging more bipartisan consensus in Washington.
Democrats feared the conservative West Virginia senator would harm President Joe Biden’s path to reelection if he jumped into the race.
