Harris raised a staggering $47m in the 24 hours after dominant performance in Trump debate

Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign raised $47m in the 24 hours following her debate with Donald Trump.

The bump is the best 24-hour stretch since the vice president announced her candidacy and was overwhelmingly driven by grassroots supporters.

Nearly 600,000 people made donations, and the total sum is likely to expand a widening funding gap between the two campaigns.

Tuesday’s showdown was largely seen by political commentators as a victory for Harris, after Trump rambled on issues including the economy and abortion and also went on a rant about pet-eating immigrants living in Springfield, Ohio.

However, Harris officials have continued to caution against any “victory laps”, citing the strength of Trump and Trump-aligned groups.

In a memo to donors this past weekend, shared with The Independent, Campaign Chair Jen O’Malley Dillon warned “We’re not just running against Donald Trump and his campaign. We’re running against an entire army of MAGA-aligned super PACs and outside groups.”

It comes after the campaign announced earlier this month that it had raised $361m in August, the largest haul of the 2024 cycle and reportedly nearly triple Team Trump’s August fundraising haul.

As of September 6,the Harris-Walz campaign reported it had raised more than $615m since the beginning of Harris’s candidacy, powered by grassroots donations

“As we enter the final stretch of this election, we’re making sure every hard-earned dollar goes to winning over the voters who will decide
