Harris Campaign Wishes Happy World IVF Day To Everyone Except 1 Person

July 25 marks “World IVF Day” and Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign hopes it’s a happy one for everyone — except Donald Trump’s running mate.

“Happy World IVF Day To Everyone Except JD Vance,” a Thursday afternoon press release from the campaign reads.

The release highlights the Republican party’s opposition to reproductive health care, focusing in particular on comments Vance made in a newly resurfaced interview from 2021, in which he also dismissed people without children as “miserable” “childless cat ladies” who should have “no direct stake” in political decisions.

The comment drew outrage from people who have struggled to conceive, including “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston, who’s been public about her own fertility struggles and her use of in vitro fertilization.

“All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day,” Aniston said in a social media post. “I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”

Last month, Vance and his fellow Senate Republicans blocked legislation that would have protected access to IVF and shielded doctors who provide it.

Comments like the “cat ladies” remark are “for the course for Vance, who voted against legislation to protect IVF access, and his boss Donald Trump, who promised to fight ‘side by side’ with opponents of IVF and refuses to commit to vetoing a law that would endanger IVF access in all 50 states,” Harris spokesperson Sarafina Chitika said in a statement.
