Harris Campaign Touts Massive $310 Million July Fundraising Haul

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign says it had one of the strongest fundraising months in presidential history, raising $310 million in July and entering August with $377 million cash on hand.

The Harris campaign’s self-reported numbers surpass those released yesterday by the Trump campaign and its authorized committees, which netted almost $139 million in July and ended the month with $327 million in the bank.

Both candidates endured a totally unprecedented month that turbocharged their fundraising.

In the span of just over a week, Trump was the target of an assassination attempt and officially became the GOP’s presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention, while President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid and endorsed Harris as his successor.

The Harris campaign said it raised $200 million in its first week. For comparison, the Biden-Harris campaign brought in $127 million during the entire month of June, and Trump’s campaign raised just under $112 million.

The assassination attempt against Trump, however, did not give him his best fundraising month to date. That happened in May following the guilty verdict in Trump’s hush money trial, when Trump’s candidate committee and affiliated groups raised $141 million.

The Harris campaign claims July was the best grassroots fundraising month in presidential history. According to the campaign, two-thirds of its contributions came from first-time donors, and nearly 94% were under $200. The campaign reported having over 3 million individual donors, rivaling Trump’s small-dollar fundraising army.

“This is a history-making haul for a candidate who will make history this November,” Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement.
