Harris Campaign Reminds JD Vance To Ask Why Trump's VP Job Is Available

Kamala Harris’ campaign staff trolled Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) on Wednesday with a simple reminder about what he should be asking his potential future boss.

The @KamalaHQ account on X, formerly Twitter, posted a side-by-side photo of Vance and Donald Trump’s former vice president, Mike Pence, with this piece of advice: “Always ask employers why the position is open.”

The Harris campaign’s cheeky post was in reference to the former president’s alleged response to the “Hang Mike Pence” chants that occurred on Jan. 6, 2021, after Pence refused to go along with a plan to let states allow slates of fake electors to be submitted.

Trump advisers said the former president encouraged the chants, as well as the lies that the 2020 election was stolen, according to former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who was a lead investigator on the Jan. 6 House select committee.

During Tuesday’s debate with Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), the Republican vice presidential nomineerefused to answer whether Trump lost in 2020, saying only, “I’m focused on the future.”

The Minnesota governor correctly noted that Vance’s response was “a damning non-answer.”

During the debate, Vance also dodged a question on whether he would attempt to subvert the results of November’s election if given the chance, even though he previously said he would have gone along with a plan to let states allow slates of fake electors to be submitted.

Walz reminded Vance that Pence refused to go along with that plan.

“[Trump] lost the election. This is not a debate,” Walz said. “It’s not anything anywhere other than in Donald Trump’s world, because, look, when Mike Pence made that decision to certify that election, that’s why Mike Pence isn’t on this stage.”
