Emma Roberts Explains Why It's 'Extremely Difficult' To Date Actors

Emma Roberts doesn’t need any more actors in her life.

The “Scream Queens” star says she’s swearing off dating fellow Hollywood types, in a candid new interview with Flaunt magazine.

“One day, the veil was lifted and I didn’t want to date actors anymore,” the entertainer shared. “It’s hard, I think, for two actors to be together. I’m trying to think if I’ve seen it done successfully.”

Roberts has dated an array of well-known names, including actors Alex Pettyfer, Chord Overstreet, Evan Peters ― and Garrett Hedlund, whom she shares a 3-year-old son with.

But Roberts explained that there is at least one factor that’s affected some of her relationships.

“The actors I’ve been with border on method actors, and that is something that I think is extremely difficult to be in a relationship with,” she said. “At least for me, especially the characters that they were playing.”

While she’s apparently done dating actors, Roberts has been linked to actor Cody John since August 2022. But in her interview with Flaunt, John was described only as “entertainment industry-adjacent,” and labeled an “Unnamed Beau.”

Roberts has spoken before about how difficult it is to date ― or stop dating ― someone, especially when your job requires you to be in the public eye.

“I never want to talk about relationships I’m in or that are ending or have ended. It’s hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience,” she told Cosmopolitan in a 2019 interview. “Sometimes it makes me sad that I can’t have a private moment.”

“Because of Twitter and Instagram, there’s a whole other element where everybody can comment on what you’re doing and no one knows the real story,” Roberts shared. “That’s hard.”
