What to know about RNC Day 2
Donald Trump made his first public appearance since his assassination attempt at the Republican National Convention yesterday. Wearing a bandage over his injured ear, the former president was greeted with resounding cheers.
Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohiowere formally selected as the Republican nominees for president and vice president. Though neither candidate spoke at the convention on the first night, some of their top allies did, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.
The theme for the second day of the convention is "Make America Safe Once Again." Speakers are expected to focus on immigration and border security.
