Donald Trump Strikes Out With Wild Claim About Kim Jong Un And Yankees

Donald Trump just wanted to take Kim Jong Un out to the ball game. (Watch the video below.)

The Republican nominee said at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Saturday that he proposed taking the North Korean dictator to a New York Yankees game to calm his obsession with nukes.

“All he wants to do is buy nuclear weapons and make them,” the former president said. “I said, ‘Just relax. Chill. You got enough. You’ve got so much nuclear weapons, so much.’ I said, ‘Just relax, go to a nice ― let’s go to a baseball game.’ I’ll show you what a baseball [game is]. We’ll go watch the Yankees, or we’ll come watch Michigan at its home opener.”

Trump’s reference to the defending college football champion Wolverines, who open their season on Aug. 31, likely was just playing to the Michigan crowd.

Whether he was on the level with the Yankees claim is anyone’s guess.

But what’s not disputable is his chumminess with tyrants and his penchant for complimenting them.

“I have a good relationship with all of them,” Trump said. “That’s a good thing. You know, a lot of times, the press would say, ‘He gets along with Kim Jong Un. North Korea has a lot of nuclear weapons.’ I got along with them great. You were never in danger with me as your president. It’s a good thing to get along, not a bad thing.”

The Yankees have lost 20 of their last 29 games, but a chance to see the likes of New York’s Aaron Judge and Juan Soto play is still worth the price of admission.

What better time for a despot and a convicted criminal to bond over hot dogs in the Bronx?

Trump, who met Kim on three occasions as president, said earlier at the RNC, “I think he misses me if you wanna know the truth.”
