Democratic National Convention Kicks Off With Speeches From Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton: Live Updates
The 2024 Democratic National Convention gets underway in Chicago on Monday, during which Vice President Kamala Harris will formally accept the party’s nomination for president.
The convention comes just one month after President Joe Biden decided to step down as the nominee, clearing the way for Harris’ bid. Since then, Harris has surged in fundraising and polls against former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance.
Biden is scheduled to speak at the convention Monday, as is 2016 Democratic nominee and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, will speak Wednesday, while Harris will give the convention’s final speech on Thursday. The pair will also appear at a campaign rally in Milwaukee on Tuesday.
