Coco Gauff's TikTok Video With Fellow Team USA Flag Bearer LeBron James Is Gold

Tennis star Coco Gauff is documenting her experience representing the U.S. at the Olympics, much to the delight of sports fans.

The reigning U.S. Open champion was a flag bearer at the Paris Games on Friday, becoming the first tennis player to carry the U.S. flag during an Olympic opening ceremony.

She was joined as a Team USA flag bearer by four-time NBA champion LeBron James, the first male basketball player to be selected for the honor.

Gauff captured her experience at the ceremony Friday night as Olympic athletes rode boats down the Seine River.

She posted a TikTok video in which she can be heard from behind the camera urging James to say “hi to TikTok.”

“What up, TikTok? We live here at 2024 Paris Games, here with Coco Gauff — in this!” James says, before cheering enthusiastically with the tennis player.

The post has so far received nearly 600,000 likes, with many TikTok users expressing excitement at seeing the two superstar athletes together.

“Never thought I would see both Coco and LeBron James in the same boat,” one person wrote in the comments section.

“Such an iconic duo, couldn’t have picked better!” wrote another.

Prior to Friday’s ceremony, Gauff had discussed what it meant to be a flag bearer alongside James in an interview on the “Today” show. Flag bearers are selected by voting from their fellow American Olympic athletes.

The tennis star told “Today” at the time that she hadn’t yet met James, but that this was “a cool circumstance” to do so.

“So many incredible people just think that I’m worthy of this,” Gauff said about being selected as flag bearer. “It means a lot, truly.”
