Bill Clinton Does A Number On Trump By Revealing His 'Only Personal Vanity'

Former President Bill Clinton took a swipe at former President Donald Trump by using his recent birthday to mock the Republican nominee’s age during his speech at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday.

“Now let’s cut to the chase. I am too old to gild the lily. Two days ago, I turned 78, the oldest man in my family in four generations,” said Clinton, who was 46 when he took the Oval Office.

“And the only personal vanity I want to assert is I’m still younger than Donald Trump.”

The quip got a mix of laughter and applause from the Chicago crowd.

Trump, who is two months older than Clinton, is the oldest major party presidential nominee in history, since President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race last month before formally being nominated.

Clinton’s age remarks come after a poll released last week found 57% of people describe Trump as “too old to be president.” (Some 79% of people who used the description for Biden, who is three years older than Trump.)

Trump has also sparked questions over his mental acuity amid his campaign. An author who interviewed Trump described his “severe memory issues” during their meetings, and Trump forgot the name of Rep. Ronny Jackson, a former White House physician, in a speech where he challenged Biden to take a cognitive test.
