WASHINGTON (AP) — The uproar over President Joe Biden’s reelection bid showed no signs of abating Sunday with a fifth senator urging him to withdraw from the race and let Democrats hold an “open process” for a new nominee. The Biden campaign acknowledged “differing opinions” but said the party would unite to defeat Republican Donald Trump.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat turned independent, urged President Joe Biden on Sunday to drop his reelection bid and focus on the remaining months of his presidency.
WASHINGTON — More than a dozen congressional Democrats on Friday joined the growing chorus of lawmakers calling on President Joe Biden to step aside as the party’s nominee, bringing the total number of Capitol Hill Democrats who want someone else at the top of the ticket to 35.

Six more congressional Democrats, among them a senator, called on President Joe Biden to exit the election contest Friday even as Biden's campaign chair brushed those calls aside, saying "Absolutely the president's in this race." So far, 25 House Democrats and three Democratic senators have urged Biden to drop out. Sen. Martin Henrich of New Mexico became the third Democratic senator to come out against Biden's continued candidacy, joining Jon Tester of Montana, who made his announcement Thursday, and Vermont's Peter Welch.
An emotional Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday urged Americans not to talk about politics in the aftermath of former President Donald Trump’s shooting, but rather, “let’s just today be grateful that our former president, political nominee, survived an assassination attempt, and all try to do better here.”
