IN A boost for the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, six disqualified Congress MLAs and three Independent MLAs from Himachal Pradesh – who had cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha elections last month — joined the party in New Delhi on Saturday.
The bypolls to six Assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh, fallen vacant following the disqualification of as many Congress MLAs, will be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls on June 1, state’s Chief Electoral Officer Maneesh Garg said Saturday. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
The BJP Wednesday released its second list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, dropping at least 28 sitting MPs while including three former Chief Ministers, nine Union Ministers, two Rajya Sabha MPs and 15 women.
